I am in the military. Can I participate in FSAFEDS?
As of the 2024 Federal Benefits Open Season, members of the uniformed services eligible to enroll in a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA) for the 2025 plan year include:
- Members of the regular (active) component
- Members of the reserve component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force, performing Active Guard Reserve (AGR) duty
- Members of the National Guard performing Active Guard Reserve (AGR) duty
The below members of the uniformed services are not eligible to enroll in the DCFSA program during the 2024 Federal Benefits Open Season:
- Reserve component members (except for those performing AGR duty pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 12301(d) or 32 U.S.C. 502(f)).
- Members of the U.S. Coast Guard and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Commissioned Officer Corps.
Members of the uniformed services are not eligible to participate in Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts (HCFSA) as of the 2024 Federal Benefits Open Season but can enroll for the first time during a Special Enrollment Period in March 2025. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard and National and Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Commissioned Officer Corps can enroll in DCFSA and HCFSA for the first time during the Special Enrollment Period in March 2025.
